Every time I walk in there's a new "rule" for passport walk ins. They say now only the first 4 people can do a passport for the full duration of the 1hr walk in they so graciously provide.. They fail to mention or write on their walk in hour sign (which differs from the website information). When I asked if they could update the hours online to reflect what they offer in person, I was given a phone # to complain about it because they can't do their job properly and update it themselves. That phone was also voicemail full and I had to resort to calling the general USA USPS phone line.

I am writing to share a disappointing experience I had at this post office location involving an employee named Helen. This was especially unfortunate because I intentionally choose this location due to the consistently excellent service I have received from other staff members, who regularly go above and beyond to assist customers. On January 20th, while waiting in line, I observed Helen assist two customers ahead of me. Both left the counter visibly upset. When it became my turn, I explained that I needed to complete an address change. Helen immediately responded, “You need an address change, here you go, have a good day,” and handed me a paper form without providing any explanation or additional information. When I stated that I had further questions, she replied, “We do not have the answers for you.” I asked if I could speak with someone else, and she responded, “No one here knows,” without hearing my questions. I felt rushed, dismissed, and unheard, and I was unable to ask what I needed because I was told no one could help me before my concerns were even addressed. Helen stated that my only option was to complete the paper form and mail it out or bring it back in. Fortunately, I am familiar with the change-of-address process, so I stepped aside, completed the COA online, and received a barcode. When I returned to the line, I was assisted by Helen again. I provided my COA barcode, identification, and all required paperwork. She briefly looked at my ID and told me she could not process the address change because the address on my ID did not match my previous address, and she dismissed me without reviewing my paperwork. I then explained that I had a lease agreement, which is acceptable documentation for completing a COA. At that point, she reviewed my documents thoroughly, which I had no issue with. After some time my COA was approved. I fully understand that working in a government role requires responsibility, consistency, and strict adherence to policy. However, I do not understand why I was initially given incomplete information, dismissed without being offered alternatives, or told that no one could help me—especially when the issue was ultimately resolved using documentation I already had. This is concerning because many customers at this location are bilingual and span a wide range of ages. Without clear communication and willingness to provide all available options, some customers may be unable to complete essential government services. That is not acceptable. Helen needs to improve her customer service and communication. If she genuinely did not have the information needed to assist me, then additional training is necessary—because I was able to resolve the situation independently after being dismissed. I hope USPS takes customer feedback seriously and ensures that all employees treat customers with respect, patience, and professionalism. I also hope that moving forward, Helen provides kinder, more thorough, and more effective service.
