I am extremely disappointed with FedEx Canada’s repeated failure to follow clear delivery instructions.
I receive food deliveries, and my shipping label clearly states in 4 separate spots that the package must be delivered directly to my unit. Despite this, one specific driver repeatedly refuses to bring my packages upstairs and instead leaves them in the lobby.
After the 4th or 5th occurrence, I contacted FedEx to file a complaint and was told the issue would be addressed. Two weeks later, it happened again. Another ticket was opened. This week, it happened yet again.
While the first representative I spoke with today was professional and helpful, I was escalated to a manager named Jennifer who told me that it is “perfectly acceptable” for drivers to leave packages in the lobby if no signature is required. Even when delivery instructions clearly state otherwise. I was then told the only way to fix this issue would be for ME to request a signature from the shipper or download an app for delivery notifications.
That response is unacceptable.
This is not a signature or notification issue. This is a failure to follow delivery instructions, involving perishable food, by ONE driver who has repeatedly ignored clear directions despite multiple complaints.
FedEx’s responsibility is to deliver packages according to the instructions provided on the label. After multiple complaints and tickets, no corrective action has been taken, and the behaviour continues.
If delivery instructions are optional, FedEx should be honest about that. Customers should not have to repeatedly complain because a driver refuses to follow clearly written directions, especially when food is involved.
This reflects poorly on FedEx’s service standards and accountability.

My experiences with FedEx have been consistently frustrating and stressful. Time and time again, delivery instructions are completely ignored, leading to packages being left in inconvenient locations. The delivery times are frequently delayed, making it impossible to rely on their service for timely arrivals.
When I've had to contact customer service, it's a disjointed and inefficient process. I find myself constantly repeating information, as if there's no record or continuity between interactions. This lack of flow makes resolving issues incredibly difficult and adds to the overall stress.
In stark contrast, other courier companies like Purolator offer a vastly superior experience. With Purolator, I can easily update my delivery preferences, and packages arrive hassle-free and in excellent condition. If I had the option, I would strongly advise suppliers to avoid using FedEx for any of my deliveries. The peace of mind offered by reliable alternatives is invaluable.
