I put mail in my mailbox yesterday and put the flag up for the mailman to pick it up, but they never picked it up. It is still sitting in my mailbox.

For the last 3 years we had excellent service with our carrier, however this summer that changed. We live in a very rural area, end of the road, 4 houses total on the road. Our mailbox is centrally located with 2 others a few steps from the beginning of our driveway and clearly marked. We started receiving neighbors mail but also mail from other streets and people we don't know. This happens with a carrier learning a route so we didn't want to complain. Now to note that we wanted to be kind so we put a package drop box at the end of our driveway so they didn't have to drive all the way down. This was a courtesy, not what we had to do. After many times of having to search acreage for packages brought by usps, mail that we were expecting never showing, and having to return mail to neighbors or sending it back to be redelivered we found a package marked as "placed in package lock box" that was missing for over a day, had been put on the other side of the property in a mostly torn down old work shop and ruined. They had to leave our driveway and go across private property to get to it. Then my husbands VA medicine was left on the ground in front of our drop box(rain water inside) and by our neighbors driveway with his dogs that it could kill, instead of in our mail o where it had room to fit. So we finally made a complaint. The local office called and was snarky and dismissive. Today they refused to deliver small packages because the box had water in it. Was at the VA with husband who is in so much pain he couldn't walk so didn't dump the water. Problem is, the drop box is a courteousy, they should have delivered it to either one of our covered porches, but because they are upset that a complaint was made about the long lastie, multiple problems, they are being petty and won't deliver packages where they are actually supposed to. Instead of trying to correct what they are doing wrong that is damaging goods, causing lost items and mail, and trying to correct the problem they are going to get upset that the problems are being brought to attention and punishing by just not delivering. I guess I will be removing the courteousy box so now all package delivery's will go to our home on the porch. I get being upset when your mess ups get called out, but the point is to do better, not get upset at the people already dealing with issues created by inability or unwillingness to do the job correctly, and then punish them because they are embarrassed. Now UPS, FedEx, Amazon, and the mail carrier will all have to make the drive to our porch. Also while being snarky, the person who called me back yesterday admitted that whoever left the meds on the ground has been in trouble for doing so before.
