- JAJason ArmstrongMay 18, 20255.0Making my way home I got to stop at Garvin Post Office. It was a nice and clean office and the staff did a great job to help. The first PO in Garvin was established on February 19, 1894. James W. Kirk, owner of the trading post at the site, was the first postmaster, and chose to name the PO "Garvin," after his father-in-law, Isaac L. Garvin, who had been chief of the Choctaw Nation. The current building was built in 1983 and has 300 PO boxes.
