After driving from 20 minutes away and loading up 3 kids, my wife and I arrived at 10:54 a.m. to submit passport paperwork as the published walk-in hours are until 11. We had the applications completed and all paperwork and photos ready. The employee told me he was unwilling to accept the application as they close in 5 minutes. I explained that we had just loaded 3 kids and driven from Bellville as the website listed the hours until 11 and we are here at 11. If they cut off at a different time, that should be published. He said too bad you can try Mount Vernon. I said this is ridiculous and will be contacting a manager. He looked into his managers office and then turned back to me and said it's not going to happen. He argued with me for 5 minutes when it could have all been done. He said go to Mount Vernon. He then went on to insult me by saying you really thought this would only take 5 minutes? I said, actually yet as that's all the longer it's taken in the past. Furthermore, if I'm here before the cut off, I don't care how long it takes. Thankfully, I called Mount Vernon because his lack of professionalism, incompetence, and entitlement position continued as Mount Vernon was not open. I expect for the Postmaster to contact me and that the USPS fee is waived for the unprofessionalism, lack of service, and unwillingness to do his job. The manager was clearly no better as he/she wouldn't even speak to us other and shake his/her head no to the clerk. Perfectly clear to me why these people won't have jobs in 5 years at the rate the USPS tolerates this entitlement behavior.
