Avoid this location at all costs. I came here with my infant for an appointment today at 10:48am that I was three minutes late to. Instead of professionalism, I was met by a rude lady that spoke to us in a condensing manner. Please believe the reviews about a certain someone that apparently should not be working there.

Phone number is inactive. Makes it impossible to get in contact with this office, especially when having issues with receiving mail.

I’m writing this review because this is the second time I’ve had a negative experience with Shin, the employee who works at the front counter of this USPS location in White Plains.
The first time, I didn’t leave a review because I thought, “Everyone can have a bad day.” But after today, I genuinely feel that this goes beyond that. Everyone has personal challenges, but if you work in customer service, there is a basic level of professionalism you should maintain — and unfortunately, that has not been my experience with her.
Today I arrived with a large box from an online order. I only needed to return three T-shirts, and since the original box was huge, I wasn’t sure whether I should use the same one or whether USPS could provide a smaller box. I walked in with the box open because I needed guidance.
I had barely stepped into the line when Shin, while still assisting another customer, immediately looked at me and said in a rude tone: “You need to close that box. I won’t take it like that.” She didn’t even know yet why it was open. I asked if they had tape available to close it, and without even greeting me she responded, “You have to buy it. We don’t have any. Go buy it.” It was 10 a.m. and she couldn’t even say a “good morning.”
What bothered me most was that she wasn’t even focused on the customer she was already helping. The attitude was unnecessary and dismissive, and it’s not the first time I’ve seen it.
Ironically, when the manager walked in from outside, her entire demeanor changed instantly — suddenly she was smiling, saying “please” and “thank you,” and acting completely different with the customer ahead of me.
When it was finally my turn, I hadn’t even finished closing the box yet. I asked whether I needed to switch to a smaller box, and she didn’t seem to know the answer. Then, the moment I finished taping it, she told me to “step aside” so she could help the next person, even though I wasn’t done with my transaction and she hadn’t placed my return paperwork inside the box yet. It felt disrespectful and rushed, like my package wasn’t important. And if the paperwork hadn’t been placed inside properly, my return might not even make it to the right destination.
Thankfully, the manager was present and helped me finish everything correctly — including throwing away what needed to be discarded. I voiced my concerns directly to him.
Honestly, I often prefer driving to a different USPS location just to avoid these situations. But the truth is: this employee clearly needs additional training, or perhaps a different role better suited to her. Customers should not have to deal with hostility or dismissiveness when simply trying to mail a package.
