I wasn't going to post this, but I feel I have to. This is by far the worst PO in the area. The man behind the counter with the mask and gloves could not be less efficient, more rude and/or indifferent. The post office itself is beyond filthy, from the outside it looks like its been shut down for 10 years, minimum. I ended up leaving because this man was just not the least bit motivated to help me (I needed a sharpie to properly cross something out, and he said the sharpie he had didn't have enough ink...) so I fixed the package at home and took it to the PO on 55 in Arlington today, which is like night and day, SO much better. Do yourself a favor, do not go to Pleasant Valley and just go elsewhere.

I had a frustrating experience at this post office. I explained that my lost passport was expired, but the clerk insisted I still needed to complete a lost passport form. After filling it out, I noticed the form itself stated that an expired lost passport is not valid and the form is unnecessary. When I pointed this out, the clerk dismissed me, saying she didn’t want to ‘argue back and forth,’ and then told me she wouldn’t include the form in my packet but that if something was missing, I’d be contacted later. It seemed like she simply didn’t want to admit she was mistaken — but I wasn’t going to fill out an unnecessary form and waste both her time and mine. She also incorrectly claimed that the official passport website I used may be fraudulent, even though it is legitimate (a friend of mine renewed through it successfully and has since traveled internationally). Overall, the interaction left me feeling dismissed and poorly assisted, rather than supported. They could improve by handling mistakes more professionally. If a customer points out something correct, it would go a long way for the clerk to acknowledge it instead of becoming defensive or dismissive. Even a simple ‘thank you for pointing that out’ would have made the interaction much smoother. Clear communication and accountability would make customers feel respected rather than brushed off.
