This post office is known to other post offices in the area (unofficially) as the "Stamp Capital of the East End," because if you are looking to purchase a particular design of stamp that has been sold out at other post offices, Peconic PO might just still have it. I've only visited this post office twice (I live 45 miles west in Stony Brook), and I have never been disappointed. The clerk that helped me this time around, Anthony, was very patient with me, and I had to step out of line for other customers who just wanted to get a receipt for a letter or package they were about to send. But I didn't mind one bit, because the locals in Peconic are very friendly and nice, too. The post office's money order machine was down, however, so I saw two customers turned away, but they were very understanding that it was an equipment issue and were happy to come back later and try again (I imagine this being a fluke, as it didn't appear to me that they were that upset, not as upset as they would be if this happened frequently). Certainly worth the travel!

Go to another post office. Postmaster has poor attitude and is agressive towards people.
