I have lived near this post office for several years (zip code 10028) and generally I have had positive experiences. Today I had incredible help when an international package that was sent to me with an incorrect address was found and held for me to pick up at the post office. Tracking for my package initially said that it was out for delivery. Then it changed to “no addressee - being returned to sender”. I first called the general line and they opened a claim and put a freeze on the package. She also gave me the number for my local post office. When I called, the person I reached paged both the carrier for my route and the supervisor. Even though two numbers on the address were swapped, they found my package and set it aside for me to pick it up! It had taken 3 weeks for the package to arrive from Swedish Lapland, so if it had really been sent back, I probably wouldn’t have seen my Christmas present for months. All of this happened at a busy Manhattan post office on December 22nd. I am really impressed with the service.

Staff were impotent beyond belief. I came here because a mailman left a pick up note so I went as instructed. I arrived around 2:45pm on 12/04/2025 and waited on line at window 1. When it was finally my turn, the person at the window scanned my note and told me that they don’t have my package. Then she sent me to 1617 3rd Ave post office. I believed her and went. Only was informed after 20 minutes wait that they checked with the manager at the post office on 85th street and they located my package. They asked me to return to window 1 to pick it up. When I got back, the same person said she recognized me, and informed me that they still don’t have my package. So I told her the whole story. She was about to turn me away, then I told her that her supervisor asked me to come back and get it. Then she found my package sitting RIGHT NEXT TO HER! All these trouble could have been avoided if they COMMUNICATED!! If you care so much about the services at our USPS. You should head over and see what happened to me when I was at the USPS in Yorkville. From the beginning to I returned, and until the very end, SHE DID NOT APOLOGIZE ONCE. 🙄 Can Google start allowing giving zero stars?

Today 11/17/2025 (around 2:00PM), I experienced one of the most unprofessional and disrespectful interactions I’ve ever had at a USPS location and that says a lot considering this post office already has tons of negative reviews. A while ago, after multiple complaints, this office introduced the “rate your service” kiosk with smiley faces. And honestly, for some time the service improved. But today proved that nothing actually changed. I came to ship a package. The clerk at window #7 didn’t greet me, didn’t respond when I said “thank you,” and didn’t ask any of the standard questions (Ground or Express, insurance, signature — nothing). I had to tell her everything myself. When I asked to pay for the sender/receiver label sticker, she snapped at me with attitude: “You should have told me at the beginning.” There was no line behind me. No rush. That is literally her job. And maybe I did want separate receipts, that is my right as a customer. When I calmly asked, “What’s the problem?” she responded: “No, YOU have a problem.” Twice. When I asked for her name, she refused and said: “It’s not your business.” Then she simply walked away and hid in the back. I called the manager. She stood there, listening with a blank face, repeating: “I’ll talk to her.” If you truly want to “hear her version,” why didn’t you call her out so we can address it together? This is a public service, not someone’s private mood room. The lack of accountability, refusal to give names, the attitude, the disrespect, and the complete unprofessionalism is shocking. If USPS wants customers to use the rating kiosk, then maybe the staff should actually EARN a green smiley not punish you with attitude when you give honest feedback. Absolutely unacceptable‼️‼️‼️

It’s always a fear to go to a post office in a foreign country knowing that it’s a tough job for people working there I’ve been to this place today and the guy who welcomed me was really nice and patient ! Thank you very much for the help !
