The service was kind and quick, however I felt like I was over charged with little-no explanation. My receipt makes little to no sense. Printing 8 b&w pages, having one notarized, and shipping 4 of them from NYC to North Carolina ground cost over $30. This is after I was quoted much higher shipping initially, even after asking for the cheapest option and expressing no need for expedited delivery. Simply a tracking number. There are also fees for envelopes and packing that I never consented to or asked for.
Notary Service Lessons learned: Take your time. Ask questions. Bring your own envelope and find a location near a post office!
RESPONSE TO OWNER'S RESPONSE:
Thanks for your reply. I feared that may have been the case and that the prices really are actually that exorbitant. The greater points I have are to do with communication and the availability of self-service:
+ The only pricing I was informed of were shipping rates (which began around $145, for 4 sheets of paper I was not rushing). Had I gone to my former employer, FedEx Office, there would have been a self service option for printing (which I was not offered), allowing me to pay less that $2 for all 8 pages.
+ I would have placed the pages into the complimentary ground envelope and filled out the air bill myself, had I realized I was being charged for that as well.
+ When being "quoted" on shipping rates (after asking for the cheapest method and was quoted on every level of overnight priority), I was told that the USPS would charge me in excess of $40 to ship it through them with a tracking number. I knew this to be emphatically untrue, as I have sent much more for much less through them, with tracking. Only at that point, when I was ready to pay and leave was I offered the $15 ground option, still unaware of the additional packing fee.
Once again, I have no real quarrel with who was helping me. However, pricing communication was NOT there and I believe perhaps the assumption was made that since I was in a rush in the UES, that I could tolerate (wouldn't care about) these charges without consent.
What's done is done, and I'm overjoyed that the papers are due at their location tomorrow afternoon. I understand you standing behind company policy and pricing. However, when simple services become this ridiculously expensive, I believe that it would be only prudent to mention the pricing, post it clearly, or even provide self service options to avoid some of it.
Just look at the receipt. How are there that many lines for three simple services. It doesn't exactly feel very transparent or consumer friendly.
I wish you all the best and no ill will whatsoever. Yet, as someone experiencing unemployment, with limited resources, who often needs services from establishments like yours, I would be remiss in warning others who cannot afford your bespoke printing, notary, and shipping services to do their research before vising a UPS sore in order to avoid the sticker shock that I experienced.

Fast efficient service for package pickup–if you are looking for a friendly Spiderman neighborhood UPS store, this 300 E 95th St gem is it. Miraj and Shanto know me by name as a frequent shopaholic! This small store, relatively uncrowded, also offers many services including notary, Amazon dropoff, USPS, custom boxing, mailbox, etc.

They refused to let me return my item in a box but said I had to pay for one of their boxes. Causing extra work, extra time, and taking up more space with a larger box. When I said it didn’t make sense they said they don’t care about me.
—-
I asked if I could use their tape to put my perfectly good box into a second box that I had. They agreed and made no mention of a fee until the box had already been taped up and I was ready to walk out the door.
I already had a box. Yes it was a merchandise box and yes it had been sent to me directly like that with a sticker label that I removed when I add my own return label. I am happy to show pictures of the box when it arrived to my house with a label on it.
The associate said he didn’t care about me or if ups threw out the box and I didn’t get my money returned. I know it’s not his job to care about me. Nor was it his decision to make the brown box policy.
I removed the box and tape because they wanted to charge me. I do not want to accept tape that I cannot pay for. I can get my own tape and own box. This was after the interaction was over and they wanted to charge me. That’s the only reason to have the policy is to be able to charge customers more.

I live on the block. I'm in here several times a week for notary, package returns, etc. I saw one reviewer mentioning Miraj and Shanto as kind and efficient. I agree 100%. Shanto and Miraj are always in good spirits, they look you in the eye and greet you with warmth and a smile. The service they give is above and beyond. I saw one reviewer say they go out of their way to go to this particular UPS. 100%, I understand why. It really is a pleasure to see them. They treat you like family. Like they are happy for your business. Truly, truly the kindest and most pleasant gentlemen. Its not just me. I see so many reviews mentioning the kindness. Miraj/Shanto, you're special!! Keep doing what you're doing!!
