The associate was so attentive and helpful. It's the holidays and she was obviously busy but made me feel like my needs mattered.

Looked online, found what I needed, ordered and pickup at my leisure. A very good experience.

I just arrived home from the most ridiculous and bad experience at Staples in Clifton Park, NY. I simply needed to get 4 groups of papers copied, the smallest group was 10 pages, the largest group was 23 pages, and I need a singular copy of each. When the young girl at the copy / print center counter completed taking care of the customer in front of me, I stepped up and she did not greet me whatsoever, after waiting a moment (I thought she would say "hello" or "how may I help you" or the similar). I explained that I needed the 4 groups of pages copied, a single copy each. She then replied "you will need to drop them off and we will do the job and call you in 2 or 3 days when they are ready to be picked up." (Are you kidding!). I was shocked momentarily, and then said to her "this is a quick simple copy job, normally you guys just do it while I wait", her reply was "we don't do that" I asked "since when", her reply "forever". I have been going to this store since it opened, and I have gotten lots of copies done over the years, I have never had to drop the job off before (The last time I got copies, while I waited, was little less than a year ago). She proceeded to tell me that I could use the customer self-copiers and do it myself, which I did do. While I was doing my copying, I took notice that the three young girls working in the department were not working, one was clearly talking with a friend at the counter, the other 2 were just standing, gossiping back and fourth to one another. And I did not see or hear any of the copy machines working. I watched in amazement. Is this were retail customer service has devolved to? Where is management? Do they even know what customer service is? Is there even competent management? I highly doubt it. But I sure hope someone in authority reads this and considers if this is how they want the Staples brand and that store itself to be represented. If I was the manager all three of these young girls would have been fired on the spot! In the past I saw a single person in that department doing multiple copy jobs simultaneously, while waiting on customers at the copy / print counter, while also helping people with shipping at that counter, and helping people who were using customer self-copiers with any and all questions. I was always impressed, and I always felt valued as a customer. But today, I felt like the people who worked there didn't have a clue, let alone appreciate, that the actual people who keep them in a job are the customers who spend money at the store!
