You really can't be bothered to empty your voicemail box and actually answer calls? I've lived in Albany for 3 days and these people already have proven they have no idea what they're doing. Lied about my package being delivered and are now ignoring my calls. Enjoy all the stuff you apparently stole from me.

Carlos was an absolute delight. You really don’t come across great customer service anymore these days, especially In places like the post Office, where people are just trying to get through their day. What a pleasure it was to walk in here on a Thursday afternoon, and be greeted by such a pleasant smile and helpful demeanor. Carlos is the epitome of a someone that can truly change someone’s day around just by being kind and helpful. Someone that goes above and beyond, just because. Truly one-of-a-kind and I hope to see Carlos again soon. Thank you Carlos for being one of those people that restores my faith in humanity!

Absolutely bizarre exchange here. I was trying to do what seemed like the accommodating, reasonable thing and have signature required mail sent here, thinking that would make it a lot easier for the post office. Signature required mail is "lost" like clockwork in Albany. I get a notice on the door, but the post office I'm supposed to be able to pick it up at can never find it, and signing the missed delivery slip does nothing. Likewise trying to reschedule delivery online just does nothing. No mail ever appears. Stuff eventually gets sent back. I'm not sure why they can't find mail to hand it to me when I go to the pick-up post office listed on the slip but it sometimes gets returned 30 days later. That's backstory. An important article was re-shipped internationally after the post office refused to deliver it and returned it, and I had it sent here via General Delivery service. Read about Generally Delivery on USPS' site if you need to. How it's supposed to work is select post offices participate, and this is the only participating one in Albany and for a ways. You ship things to the the street address "General Delivery" at the zipcode, 12207 in this case, with -9999 as the plus-four, then go in and pick it up like held mail. Then the post office doesn't have to leave a slip or send an article out for delivery when I'm not home etc. Win-win. I show up. Clerk asks if he can help me. I bid him good afternoon and ask if a piece of General Delivery mail is available for me. I'm asked if the mail is there. I say I believe it is, if this is 12207. He asks me again if it is here. I repeat that I believe it is according to tracking if this is 12207. He's visibly agitated at this point. I've used General Delivery many times in different places while traveling for work or otherwise and there has never been any issue so I'm unsure what is going on. I had done the advanced search on the USPS site to find a location -- the location -- that offers General Delivery service but I'm still trying to be accommodating and asking if I'm in the right place for General Delivery. Then I'm asked if I "filled out a form". No, I say, what form do I need to fill out, still trying to be flexible and accommodating. I'm again asked whether I filled out a form, which I had already answered, and the clerk continues to be irritated. Then I'm told over and over again while I stand there that I have to fill out a form. I say that I would be glad to fill out a form, but then eventually I'm told that I have to fill out the form before sending General Delivery mail to the post office or else the mail will be returned. This is completely atypical of everything I've seen and the web page for this post office says nothing about this. Again, I'm trying to make the effort to make this easy for them. The lecture is repeated a few more times as if I am the one who is unable for not having information that I could not possibly have been party to. So now you know. If you want something delivered that has signature confirmation and there isn't someone waiting there to receive it when it goes out for delivery, your only options are renting a PO box or filling out some form and dealing with an irritated, condescending clerk. Beware that Albany figured out that they can simply not deliver any mail they don't feel like delivering just by marking it undeliverable and returning it.
