"The Checkpoint Charlie of the High Desert"
The Mission:
I came here to mail a postcard to the outside world, just to prove I hadn't been absorbed by the sagebrush. This building is the closest thing Winnemucca has to an embassy for civilization. It stands as a beacon of federal authority in a land otherwise governed by wind and bad decisions.
The Queue (A Genetic Study):
The line was moving at the speed of geological erosion, which gave me plenty of time to observe the locals. It was a fascinating scene—the air was thick with the aroma of discount menthols and breakfast whiskey, and the crowd was... close. Very close. Let’s just say the family tree in this lobby didn't fork enough. Everyone looked like they were cousins, even the people who were arguing.
The Main Event:
But the real star was the customer ahead of me: Sukhwinder from the Sinclair station. True to form, he was wearing his Bluetooth headset and loudly arguing with a distributor. He was currently attempting to ship three crates of energy drinks—which clearly expired during the Obama administration—back to a warehouse in Reno for a "full refund."
The Service:
The clerk looked tired. Not just "long shift" tired, but "I have stared into the abyss" tired. When Sukhwinder argued that the energy drinks had "aged like fine bourbon," she didn't even blink. She just slapped a "Surface Mail Only" sticker on the box and stared out the window at the dust storm.
Verdict:
5 Stars. The only place where you can mail a letter, catch a contact buzz from the guy behind you, and watch a local business tycoon try to return vintage caffeine. Goodbye, Winnemucca. You were too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Do not use the post office here! Go pay for an online address and a service ! You will never see your mail or pkgs, and thry lie to Amazon about delivery issues constantly. Had to get my bank to get all.funds back from two companies I had multiple orders with. My mail forward to the new paid service was also blocked.
They also start to screw with your mail.even after you get a paid service ...they shall prepare and will be held accountable!
Arrived in mid August . Went to get keys and needed lock replaced on the box I was getting at the complex. Told theyd put mail on hold and order repair and keys.
Well, several times that week mail.wss left in an open box. A neighbor kept it and delivered to me evenings when id be home.
Filed a complaint. Told they had no mail on hold for me.i was there and singed the form! Wow! Carrier continued this and I complained again. Never has really stopped.
Then my first package from Amazon via usps ...keep in mind that FedEx and Amazon delivery drivers and ups all.deliver just fine to my door to this day....not usps !
The pkg was never delivered and Amazon sent emails stating a key code was needed...we don4 live in a locked bldg..carrier lied...I complained in person same day to a supervisor...she said id gst it the next day and would speak to the carrier. No pkg....went down to compamon..told they do not deliver pkgs in town..and carrier had no aafw place to leave it..um...walk through the main bldg doors and down the hall ..place at door!!!!! She refused delivery.......I tossed my keys and left.....a.azon was told there was no way to know my address...um..it was listed correctly on Amazon and the order. Post office lied again..and lied about safety .... now several pkgs are missing and tons of mail.. I got the service and dis a forward thst the local po blocked.. ... I filed complaints with usps..1st time it resulted in a threatening phone call from a guy stating he was postmaster....threatened me in several ways and insisted on meeting him there after hours...even threatened my job.. .and laughed when I said id call political offices and more...he laughed and said he was good friends with all politicians of this state, police, and courts...wow... . So I filed another complaint.. it went to a regional post master who called me and said this guy wasn't a post master. So he was posing ....and I would see my mail and pkgs. Well, I have not 2 weeks later. I escalated this again this week and have made othwr contacts to file complaints.... blocking my forward..refusing delivery and keeping my mail and pkgs has to be illegal.. I have gotten my mail service info.out as much as possible tho ..and still have lost funds due to po lies to amazon and my bank.. though I have most of my funds now....many in this town state similar issues or other problems and agree the local po is terrible. Some.also now use alternatives. If you can use a service, do so !!! Stay away from.these retaliatory , unprofessional liars and perhaps thieves...no mail or pkgs have been returned even to original senders to my knowledge and checking i do regularly.
Even facebook had similar complaints on some of its sites about this post office.
My story has remained the same...yet theirs keeps changing . Hoping the newest escalation call does something to at least get me my mail . My new service is well worth the money I am paying !

Waited about 15 mins with only a few people in front of me, but in all fairness I came at a busy time. The woman who assisted me was friendly and even used one of her personal stamps on my envelope, so I ended up not paying for the additional postage. Very kind of her and left with a positive experience.
