I figured with a name like that, it must be the capital of our people—maybe they have a golden Walmart or a landfill that allows public scavenging. I pulled into town and immediately checked my pulse to see if I had died and gone to 1885. This place isn't just 'Old West,' it’s 'Pre-Electricity' vibes. It’s quiet. Too quiet. I sat there for twenty minutes waiting to hear a distant siren, a domestic dispute, or at least a generator backfiring, but all I heard was a cow mooing three miles away. It was terrifying. I saw a local walking down the street and he didn't even look like he was twitching. I asked him, 'Buddy, where’s the action? Where’s the guy trying to sell a stolen catalytic converter?' He just pointed at the mountains and said, 'We like the peace. I don't get it. Why would you live here? It’s so far from the Flying J that by the time you get back with your Tornados, they’re cold. The buildings look like they’re held together by ghosts and good intentions. Three stars because it’s 'historically cool' (I felt like Clint Eastwood for about five minutes), but I had to leave because the silence was starting to make me think about my life choices.
