The tracking information provided by the retailer instructed me to pick it up at this store. When I arrived, I was told they could not release my package because the shipping label did not include my first and last name. I had used “Office Staff” on the order since it was a work-related purchase and I’m not always physically present at the office when deliveries are made, and I assumed that way if it came in and any of my coworkers could’ve signed the delivery for me. I provided the tracking number, showed the live delivery status on my phone, and was prepared to show my order confirmation email. Despite this, I was told it was “UPS policy” not to release packages without a first and last name on the label, and that “anyone could get the order information and claim a package” with that information. As a result, the package will now be returned, forcing me to reorder and delaying an important work project by at least a week. I understand security policies, but there should be reasonable discretion when a customer can clearly verify ownership. Very, very disappointing experience.
