- JVJessica VillamilJun 28, 20251.0This morning around 10:30 AM, my 75-year-old grandmother went in to mail a package for the first time on her own. English isn’t her first language, and she was confused about how to fill out the paperwork. She asked the employee at the counter — a man named Shane — for help. Instead of assisting her with patience or kindness, he was rude, dismissive, and repeatedly brushed her off, just saying “there, there” without even looking at her. When she asked again, he told her, “It’s not my job to babysit.” She came home feeling embarrassed and disrespected. I went back to the post office around 11:30 AM to speak with him directly, and he treated me the same way — rolling his eyes, using a nasty tone, and saying, “It’s not my fault she doesn’t understand,” and “It’s not my job to know another language.” This kind of behavior is disgusting — especially from a public employee. Our elders, immigrants, and anyone needing help deserve respect and patience, not sarcasm and discrimination. I’ve filed a formal complaint with USPS and I’ll be following up, but I’m sharing this publicly because it needs to be known. If you’ve experienced similar treatment at this location, please speak up. Our community deserves better.
