But after hearing about my recent experience, I hope those reading will understand that my hands were tied when deciding to share the unsettling events that had come to pass during my time here. Over a month ago, my mother and I had made an appointment to obtain a passport here at the Allentown Post Office after hearing nothing but raving reviews about the service here. We had arrived over 15 minutes early to get our bearings and be prepared for our upcoming visit. Upon entering the store one could hear a pin drop. To paint a picture, there was not a soul to be seen. Upwards of 5 minutes later, a woman appeared at the counter clearly annoyed. We were met with a skeptical, "Can I help you?" as if we had no business being there? We explained our situation and were told to wait as the man in charge of the passports was not there yet. Maybe running late due to sleeping in. :( 30 minutes pass and customers are coming and going. Each time, my mother and I explain to them that yes there ARE in fact people who work here...but they do not stand at the counter for some reason. Finally a man walks in, ruffling and shuffling a stack of junk on the counter. I figured maybe he was hungover or still not fully awake yet, as his movements were jerky and unpredictable. He stares at me and raises his shoulders. No manners to be seen for miles. Personally, I would NEVER greet someone like that let alone a customer. I explained our situation to him and he said in a VERY disrespectful tone..."I don't have an appointment" while scrunching his face up. We showed him the confirmation email and he sarcastically laughed showing us a blank piece of printer paper (that he clearly pulled from under the counter) saying he had no appointments today. After quite a while of this back and forth nonsense he said that if we had our stuff with us, "I guess I could take you guys today". His sarcasm was starting to grate on my nerves as I had now been waiting for over 40 minutes while he walks into work LATE and with an attitude. This man takes me back to take my picture swinging around the camera like it means nothing to him and carelessly snaps a picture. The picture was ROUGH to appeal to the younger generation, "chopped" could be used interchangeably here. Zoomed in ALLLL the way and so obviously done without a care in the world. When we return to the counter he made me swear the oath which clearly meant a lot to him as he started chanting it passionately, but at a volume I could not understand. As we were leaving he tried to crack jokes clearly feeling guilty for treating us so disrespectfully but I had ENOUGH. Never will I ever return to this establishment. If you are looking to obtain a passport **LOOK ELSEWHERE** for here you will be met with an unprofessional, entitled, and LATE piece of work, who clearly cares so little for his job. Also Father's Day decor was still up in late July...time to take that down smh.
