Always pleasant. Occasionally short staffed like every other business.

I drive a town over to come to this post office when I mail out important items. I have always received timely and friendly assistance at the counter, and from envelopes to packages everything has been delivered as promised. **But I want to give big congratulations to Wendy for being the first employee in that office to be berating, rude and unprofessional to me. Thank you Wendy for embarrassing me in front of a line of 6 people at Christmas time, after I let the 4 people prior to that pass in front of me so I could try to get the labels right. Thank you for taking my personal information and tossing it in the trash can, and telling me it “was useless”, thank you for your back talk when when I explained how I had always had assistance when labeling packages to be sent out, and your “not in here” response was classic. I wouldn’t even have an issue with rudeness if it wasn’t for the fact that you were so overly polite to older customers. You were even polite to the woman who paid with a personal check but didn’t have a license to show you, and you accepted it. For some reason- after standing in line and listening to you greet people and treat them with respect, I thought I would receive the same, but I got your combative, annoyed, dismissive treatment, and it did catch me off guard- I don't know if you caught my shaking in anger.. The atmosphere in the post office for the approximate 1/2 hr I was there was patient- and friendly, no one was pressuring you or being rude to you, and considering there was ONLY you at the counter, we customers could have been upset. I will return to this post office, for the other employees that make it run well, and do it professionally and with manners.

I have always had nothing but positive experiences here at the Amherst Post office. I send and receive a lot of packages through this location and anytime I have a question or concern everyone has always been professional and helpful. John went above and beyond today to help me recover a misplaced package that was a gift for my son and I couldn't be more grateful. Thank you to everyone at Amherst USPS for providing such a great service to our community.

Zero stars would be my rating. Since my email to Donna Martin, Consumer Affairs Representative, Northern New England District, keeps coming back to me as undeliverable because her inbox is full; I will post my reply to her email here which I think adequately explains my review. February, 10, 2021 Ms. Donna Martin; I appreciate your response, albiet extraordinarily late; I submitted the complaint 31 days ago. I would like to point out that I am appalled at the misrepresentation of the problem either from your interpretation or the misinformation provided from your source in the Amherst office. I did not move my business, therefore a change of address form did not apply. I approached the problem in person at the Amherst facility where I waited in line for over 30 minutes behind eight disgruntled patrons, several more behind me, because of inadequate staffing--one person--during the Christmas season. I was informed by the supervisor on duty that the officially recognized business address of my rental office is as follows: (censored), Amherst NH 03031. I was told I did not need to fill out any forms. Nonetheless, my business mail continued to not be delivered, prompting my formal complaint. The problem was not my lack of filling out a change of address form as you suggest. The problem was solely within the Amherst facility and/or carrier simply not delivering mail to a clearly marked address after the onsite personnel acknowledged it as the correct address. As I am now receiving mail at my business location (without filling out any forms), I considered the matter closed; but after reading your email, I find it necessary to express my disappointment of the long delay in your communication to me and my resentment of the redirection in fault and lack of accountability. I find your email condescending and insulting, and the overall customer service of the Amherst facility strongly flawed. This matter could have been resolved in minutes with a simple phone call from someone at the time of receiving my complaint rather than the email sent from S. M. on January 12, 2021, stating, "After we review and investigate the information you have provided, we will contact you and work with you until the issue is resolved." Obviously, no one contacted me or worked with me to resolve the issue; not until today, from you, nearly a month later after the issue somehow resolved itself internally. If someone had simply had the professionalism and decency to address my concern more directly and in a more timely manner, you would have found my tone at that time to be understanding and pleasant. Mistakes happen which is something I have the utmost patience for. I don't have the patience for disregard and incompetence; something the USPS can't afford to show in an era such as this where the existence of the postal service requires public support to protect it against privatization. I intentionally use USPS rather than other private options because I care that it remains a public service to protect democracy. I, therefore, find it necessary to speak out against the failings which can sabotage that concern, especially when I have seen other negative reviews online pertaining to this same facility. I hope you will consider a closer look at the management practices in this facility. Meanwhile, I will use another post office for my outgoing packages and postage needs.
