Mistakes happen, but calling their service center was a disaster. They kept telling me that the package was on the way to Atlanta. The old barcode triggered a new delivery email and that tracking shows a delivery on the 12th AND the 20th. A supervisor promised to call the station and have the package picked up again, but a follow up call shows that the 'supervisor' didn't put any notes on either tracking number and never called the local office. After 2 hours of phone calls their excuse became 'the local office closed 20 minutes ago'. The local office would probably have helped, but they were never notified of the mistake. The customer service process at FedEx needs a lot of help.
