We drove all the way to New Bern to apply for our son’s passport after already stopping at two other post offices that told us they no longer do passports. When we arrived, we waited, and an employee came out and told us they only accept walk-ins at 3:00 PM. However, the sign on the door clearly stated that the post office closes at 3:00 PM, which made no sense. We explained that we live far away and asked if he could please confirm that we would actually be seen at 3:00 PM, since the sign showed closing time. He said he had been told that information but could not confirm whether we would be taken, even knowing we had driven a long distance specifically for this. The lack of clear communication, conflicting information, and unwillingness to verify such an important service was extremely disappointing—especially for something as important as a child’s passport. This experience wasted our time, gas, and effort. USPS needs clearer signage and better staff communication to avoid putting families through this.

Every time I called, I was given a multitude of excuses. The people I spoke to were very nice, and I am more than happy to change my review if either one of my packages mysteriously shows up!
