However, based on my experience, packages left in the box are not reliably scanned, and I've had more than one instance where an item was completely lost without any record of it ever being dropped off. If you need traceability or insurance, I highly recommend handing your package directly to a USPS employee to ensure it's scanned immediately and entered into the system.
