- BBBrian BauerNov 30, 20251.0Walked into the UPS Store Des Peres (MO) to ship a Christmas package. My wife had wrapped the box in fun holiday paper for our great nieces, and I covered it with shipping tape. The person behind the counter told me the package could not be shipped the way it was, we needed another box, which he was going to SELL me. I told him we had shipped other packages like this in the past, and it was never a problem. He said the paper could tear during shipping, at which time I pointed out I had covered the box with packing tape. I told him again we had shipped boxes this way before with no problem, and that when I go to other UPS stores they NEVER protest the boxes we use, but when I go to the UPS in Des Peres it is not uncommon there is something wrong with the box, etc. and that we mysteriously need to purchase something in order for the package to be accepted. I went to another UPS Store the same day and they immediately shipped the box for us, NO questions asked and NO need to purchase something else to do so. UPS Des Peres is .9 miles from my home…I will gladly drive the 5+ miles to other stores in my area, to ship my packages from now on. Maybe UPS Des Peres should change their name to UPS Des Peres UpSell/UpCharge.

I was shipping a package but waiting to hear if the recipient wanted to pay for overnight or not, Emily offered to hold the package for me and I could just call and pay over the phone, so I wouldn’t have to stand around waiting for the recipient to reply to me. I really appreciated that gesture!

Agent said he could only do that for a $1.00 fee. I understand policy and the agents should not be doing the packaging for free. However, a little good customer service would have gone a long way with me and others in the lobby and only cost the store a small strip of tape.
- AMAmish MahayNov 17, 20235.0Not sure why this place has such low reviews. I’ve always had a positive experience going to this location. In and out in less than 5 mins. Friendly and helpful staff. Edit: after coming here for multiple years, I can attest this is by the far the best shipping center I’ve ever been to! Rob is extremely helpful. He helped find the most inexpensive shipping method for a large and irregular shaped package and offered a much cheaper price than FedEx or USPS could offer. Hands down recommend this store to anyone that has shipping needs!
