- MMMelissaDec 10, 20251.0I recently visited this post office to address an ongoing issue with not receiving my mail. Two weeks prior, I had already spoken with staff about this concern, yet the problem persisted. During this visit, I was informed—without any prior notice—that they had taken it upon themselves to scribble out my name on my assigned mailbox using permanent marker. This action was done without my consent and directly contributed to my mail delivery problems. When I asked for clarification, the staff spoke to me in a condescending manner, as though I did not understand how mail delivery works. I then pointed out that I repeatedly receive mail addressed to other individuals. Instead of acknowledging this error, the manager advised me that it is “perfectly okay” to throw someone else’s mail away. When I stated that discarding another person’s mail is generally understood to be a federal offense, she insisted that doing so was acceptable and continued to argue this point. This is deeply concerning. Not only does it reflect a lack of professionalism, but it also shows a disregard for proper mail handling procedures and for federal regulations surrounding misdelivered mail. The combination of altering my mailbox labeling without permission, failing to deliver my own mail, misplacing other customers’ mail into my box, and then giving incorrect and potentially unlawful guidance is unacceptable for any USPS. I am requesting that this matter be reviewed and corrected so that customers can trust that their mail will be handled responsibly, lawfully, and with the level of professionalism expected from the postal service.
