The post office accepts packages from UPS but does not assume or adhere to the delivery standards of UPS. If the package won't fit in your mailbox, and you don't happen to be home when the package arrives, God help you. UPS would just leave it at the door. The post office may hold it or they may send it back to the sender -- you never know. Trying to discuss this with them is fruitless.
