For a bedpost community, the post office’s operating hours are especially impractical. Additionally, locking the PO box lobby after hours makes paying for a PO box feel unjustified, since USPS already offers free mail holding at the service counter. If PO boxes cannot be accessed reliably, their value is greatly diminished.
