Seriously inefficient. They sent everyone to the hallway self service and couldn’t handle the two people at the desk!

I put a hold on my packages so they would be held at the post office. I went to get them today and the lady there was being so rude to me and acting like I was stupid. I showed her my confirmation of the hold and everything and she continued to give me a difficult time. It was a really anxiety inducing experience especially for a young girl who doesn’t have much experience with things like this. As someone who works as a secretary, it was very shocking seeing someone with a similar job treat customers this way.

I feel it’s important to share my experience in full. When a post office already averages around 2 stars, you start to understand why once you’ve experienced the same problems so many other customers are mentioning. For more than a year, my mail has repeatedly been: placed in the wrong mailbox delivered to a neighbor with one digit difference in their address or even returned to sender despite having the correct name and address The most critical pieces of mail—checks—have been the biggest problem. My neighbor has handed me my checks on several occasions because the carrier placed them in the wrong box. I’ve left sticky notes, filed complaints, submitted Informed Delivery notices, and contacted the post office multiple times. The problem continued despite the documentation and despite repeated reports. One of my checks from September was even cashed, which escalated the situation from “inconvenient” to “serious.” I completed an affidavit and filed a police report for the stolen check, then went in person to the post office. The experience was honestly disappointing. The response to the ongoing issues felt dismissive, and there was little sense of accountability. When I asked about ensuring proper delivery or getting a P.O. Box because of the mishaps, I didn’t receive an apology or a thoughtful solution—only comments like: “Lisa is usually such a good worker.” That may be true, but my experience hasn’t reflected that, and anyone reviewing my complaint history should be able to see a pattern. The inability (or unwillingness) to reference prior reports was concerning and suggested a lack of internal organization. That should never be the customer’s problem. Passive, Condescending, and Unprofessional Interactions: Before Thanksgiving, I went in to pick up mail that the supervisor was holding due to the theft. After checking it, I noticed another check—one I saw on Informed Delivery—was not there. When I returned to ask about it: One worker attempted to help, but The second worker jumped in and defended the carrier immediately, making it seem like I was attacking their character just by asking where my missing mail was. She made comments like: “They make $100,000 a year; they wouldn’t risk their job for a few hundred dollars.” This was wildly inappropriate. For one, it’s condescending to assume someone else’s check is only “a few hundred dollars.” Second, personal opinions about a coworker’s “ethics” should not be used to invalidate a customer’s experience. I never accused anyone of stealing—I only stated the fact that a check stolen from my mailbox had been cashed, and the post office was the last handler. Her tone was defensive, self-righteous, and dismissive, essentially gaslighting me because her personal experience with the carrier was positive. Lack of Professional Process: When I later returned requesting to speak with a supervisor, I was told: “They usually don’t come up after 3:00 p.m. You can write your complaint on a slip of paper.” A scrap of paper? For a federal facility dealing with sensitive issues like mail theft? Why aren’t there official complaint forms? Why isn’t there a clear process? Why is the entire accountability system based on who feels like helping that day? Between overhearing workers’ personal phone calls at the front counter, the lack of urgency, and the defensiveness when issues are raised, the workplace environment feels unstructured and unprofessional. Final Thoughts If many customers are experiencing the same issues I have, the 2-star rating is absolutely justified. I’ve never dealt with this level of disorganization and indifference in any city I’ve lived in previously. It feels like the workers are more protected by union security than guided by standards of professionalism, empathy, or accountability. Unions should support integrity—not shield poor service or dismissive behavior. This post office desperately needs restructuring, improved processes, better customer communication, and a true accountability system.

I came into the post office to mail a package today, and even though there was a really long line and a few people had issues that needed supervisor assistance, the two ladies working were super friendly, helpful, and got us out quickly! I didn’t catch their names unfortunately but they were working 11/22 at 2:45pm - thanks for the great service (:
