I waited in line 45 minutes to mail a small brochure in a padded envelope, as I do every month. There was one person working at the counter while one or two other staff members were walking around behind doing nothing. One was just muttering to herself. The single Clerk handled two customers extremely slowly. After 45 minutes the line extended out the door. At that time, the staff member decided to go to lunch. Another clerk had started working. Finally it was my turn. He told me he was going to charge me for the envelope being a package. Explained that I mail the same envelope every month and he said no, now it is called a package and I have to pay a higher rate. This particular location is always a disaster. At least it didn't smell like marijuana behind the counter today. Zero Stars since I will now need to drive to another post office.

Today, I visited this USPS location for my 18-year-old child’s passport appointment. Upon arrival, I was informed that only one employee was working the counter and that the passport specialist was not in the office. The front desk representative stated that management had called and left me a voicemail about the cancellation; however, I did not receive a phone call or voicemail. I explained that we were bringing completed forms to process the passport application and that we had initiated the process through ClearMe/HelloGov. The representative immediately stated that the service was fraudulent and instructed me to get my money back, questioning the cost and process before I could even request assistance. I then asked to purchase a money order for my own passport name change. The same representative questioned my documentation and asked why I was changing my name, treating me as though I did not have proper instructions from the Department of State. I did have all required documentation. While another employee was assisting me with the money order, the original representative interrupted to question the fee I was paying and whether it came from the Department of State website. I confirmed that it did and that it was the expedited processing fee. She then stated that I would need a new passport photo for a name change, despite my passport being less than one year old, which is inconsistent with Department of State guidance. Additionally, she referred to my 18-year-old son as a minor, which is incorrect under passport regulations. Overall, this was not a good experience. Over the past several months, I have had three passport appointments either canceled or result in no-shows at two different USPS locations in Maryland. After multiple canceled or no-show passport appointments, I am losing confidence in USPS’s ability to support passport services.
