I live in Barnesville, MD district and use the Barnesville Post Office for all of my mailing and stamp purchases and also have a Post Office Box there to receive my mail. This small community post office is wonderful. The postmistress is always courteous, responsible and reliable. She opens on time every day and keeps the post office neat and tidy. She always goes out of her way to help, even carrying packages to your car. We are very fortunate to have Honey Hynes as our postmistriss.

I have lived in this small community for over 20 years and understand that our smaller locations may not be able to handle larger requests but today's experience was TERRIBLE. If the rating system would allow for a negative rating I would give it a minus 5. There were four people waiting for them to open, on a Monday morning, and they opened late with no apology. The postal clerk weighed my 12 large business envelopes four 4 times each???? Then she writes down the cost for each on a piece of paper and uses a small hand calculator to add up the total? She then puts the envelopes off to side and asks me pay. I ask her to please put the postage on the envelopes so that I am assured that they are done once I walk out of the PO - she replied "I'll do them later", to which I replied these are business envelopes and I would prefer that the postage be applied while I am there. As a side note this same person and location lost an overnight package of mine months earlier so my confidence level was low. She then grabs the packages, starts slamming things around, and starts putting stamps on the first package. By the time she was done she had five (5) very different colorful stamps thrown on the envelope. Needless to say it was FAR from looking business or professional. I asked her to stop and indicated that I would take the envelopes to a larger location and print ONE postage stamp for each envelope. She blew up…and I now understand where the term "postal" comes from. Not only is she unprofessional the location is unreliable. It's disappointing that someone working in a small community for a government agency wouldn't have more respect for the folks that live here and rely on the United States Post Office to deliver the services we pay for.
