This post office, the main one on Main Street in Falmouth, MA, aside from having one of the rudest, self-entitled, angry, bitter, and clueless tellers in PO history (and that’s saying a lot), ALSO lost a package that was sent to me from California. Sent, actually, to my mother’s nearby condo because her complex has a 24 hour doorman who can sign for and accept all packages. So, it arrived at the Falmouth P.O., according to the PO’s own “tracking” service, but; “There will be a slight delay in the delivery of this package.” HUH? Why? When? More info please! Over the next three weeks, I called the PO every other day, and stopped in twice a week. FINALLY, it was determined, by some “supervisor”, that “the package WAS delivered, but the carrier had “neglected” to obtain a signature AND “neglected to” electronically scan the status of the package.THUS, there is no PROOF that the package was delivered. The carrier didn’t even know WHAT DAY IT WAS that he’d made his supposed undocumented delivery. A delivery, btw, that the doorman/receptionist at the condo complex says never happened. Because, when packages ARE delivered, they are signed for, noted in the Condo’s “Delivery Database”, then are IMMEDIATELY taken to the appropriate condo. If the condo-dweller is not at home, the package is left in the basket outside their door, unless the dweller has selected the “keep at desk” option. EITHER WAY, the condo reps SWEAR that the package in question was never delivered. In fact, the PO’s own TRACKING SYSTEM says the package HAS YET TO BE DELIVERED! So, here we are, FOUR MONTHS LATER. Every two weeks I get a FORM EMAIL informing me that “We have yet to locate your package, but are still working on the case”. Lord... It is one, small, insured package that contains something very special that I bought for my mother, on an online auction, to commemorate her 90th birthday. Which was on June 23rd. Which was two months ago. The package “arrived at the Falmouth PO” on April 23rd. FOUR months ago. It is well past time to collect whatever it is I collect on a lost, insured package. The item I bought for my mum is, of course, one of a kind. I. AM. FURIOUS.
