This location is up there with one of the worst USPS Locations I've had the displeasure of dealing with.
I mistakenly had a package delivered to my old address. My Change of Address expired but the person I spoke with seemed genuine, sincere, and understanding. I called here and despite it taken 40 calls calls to actually get through to someone who actually worked at this location, a young man answered. I believe his name was Trevor or Taylor... something with a "T". I only bring this person up because they seemed willing to help me.
I asked them to hold this package for pick up. It was made known they'd gladly hold it for up to 2 weeks. I had an appointment n in the area and the USPS website said my package was being held in FT. Thomas. Not thinking I spoke with this fella at the Newport location....I went to FT. Thomas and low and held it was not there, the lady seemed nice, however showed no interest in looking if my package was there, told me they hold all packages at the Newport location. No worries.
Unfortunately, I had an appointment and couldn't nashe a second stop in the allotted time I had set for myself. I decided to call the next business day to make sure they were still holding my bpackage and tried for days to get ahold of anyone.
I finally got through a few business days later. Which is ridiculous to have to reiterate but these guys never pick up their phone! When I finally get to talk to an agent. On February 2nd.... I'm told they can't find the package, not sure this other young man even looked. In fact, I'm certain he didn't. He goes on to say, they must have sent the package back to the sender and he's not sure how long this other employee held the package. Again.... this agent really didn't look into the matter. I finally get an update on my package 8 days later, through the tracking info on the package relayed by USPS.com
They claimed my package was never picked up and it was being sent back to the sender. Thankfully the package mentored isn't lost or stolen. However low and behold it was sitting at the Newport location all of this time. I've tried to call this location for the past 3 days to express my frustration with how this matter was handled; the lies, the MISLEADING claims of it will be held with your name and address, the LIE that it was already sent back to the original sender, that it WASN'T there all of this time.
They were LITERALLY and still are literally of no use to any customer, tax paying citizen of this country, or tax paying citizen of the zip codes they mishandle on a daily basis.

The snow has been gone for a few days now. Time to get back to work and get packages out on time.

I come to this post office very regularly for my husband’s business and have come to love the employees here. Their kindness, helpfulness, efficacy, and friendliness make something as simple a post office visit something that I enjoy. I am grateful for businesses and employees like this one who make our community better and a bit brighter.

Please update your hours on Google if you are closed. Waste of time and gas. Also the parking situation is terrible.
