- RMRachel MillsAug 12, 20221.0Post office is rarely ever open during the hours it is supposed to be. They have been working out of a mobile hot dog stand set up instead of the building for a couple of years now. When I've made purchases that come to the post office through UPS SurePost they have to make several delivery attempts before they catch anyone in. The main Post Master over the area said it is because they are so short handed at the Barbourville Office, but this appears to be the case for well over a year and should have been resolved by now. I 10/10 do not recommend anyone pay for a box at this location if they aren't able to check their mail sometime between 11am and 2:30pm since that appears to be the consistent hours of operation. But not between 1 & 2 since that's when they close for lunch. Also, if you have packages that would need delivered to a mailing address instead of a physical address - good luck!
