I don't want to give such a poor rating for my local post office, but such is the case. The community, in general, has been having all types of issues for the last year or two. It's frustrating because the employees are bound by new guidelines that have taken away their ability to handle issues in a personal, small town where everybody knows everybody manner. I can't even call and get any worker in the office to answer the phone, which Google doesn't even list anymore, just shows the national toll free number. In my situation they have failed to deliver mail to my new address in town. I had shared a PO Box with family since I was a kid and finally decided to have my mail delivered to my apartment (same zip code as the po box ). Well since I am not the primary box holder I couldn't file a change of address and it's up to pox holder to forward my mail to me. That's fine I suppose but the box holder is only relieving my mail still addressed to the PO Box, but there's plenty of mail that is addressed to my apartment's street address that has never shown up. I was receiving mail for a short period after I went in and tried to get the problem resolved, but in the last few weeks I haven't recieved one piece of mail addressed to me. There's nothing that can be done without a tracking number or sent date, which with regular mail I have neither one of those things when it comes to bills, correspondence, or financial statements. I'm about to my wits end when it comes to this. I feel like I'm stuck in the USPS abyss that could be easily resolved if my local post office would just take the initiative to make sure the sorters and carriers were all aware of this issue and to make sure my mail did indeed to get delivered. I know they are understaffed with a large and I imagine growing workload due to online sales...but regardless it is their job and duty to make certain that they are fulfilling this critical service. They have jeopardized my ability to do basic tasks that need to be done to maintain a stable life to support oneself and family. I'm so discouraged and disappointed. We are a proud, tight-knit community. The post office should be an outward extension in-line with the exceptional standards the community prides itself in. Sadly it's not the case and I truly fear what else might have to happen before real change can happen.
