Boy do I hope this doesn’t have to drop further. The Leavenworth USPS has officially left me confused. Incident 1: My apartment building allegedly has no safe place to leave a package. This is what a worker at the office told me the first time I went to pick up my package on the date noted on a slip left in my mailbox. Okay, no big deal. I picked up my package no issues and went on my way. Bit of a hassle for an 8-5 worker, but I made it work. Incident 2: Another note gets left saying there’s no secure location to leave my package. Alright I’ve done this before and so I’ll wait a day to go pick up the package on the date listed. Go into the office, ten minutes of searching for the package from the note I handed them, and they come back to me. My package was accidentally sent back to the plant and I’ll need to come back to pick it up 4-5 days later. I’m sorry, what mistake from the driver to the office caused that alleged complete inconvenience to me and the shipper? That causes the ship date to be wildly inaccurate and I’ve already had to go out of my way to pick the package up from the office who’s now lost it. Since I was already there I told the officer desk worker that I work remote, so having these packages return to the office is inconvenient when delivering them to me would be secure as far as I’m concerned. The worker told me I’d have to contact the carrier (isn’t that you guys?) for that. Cut to 2 days later, I get a notification from the shipper saying my package has been delivered and low and behold it is OUTSIDE MY APARTMENT DOOR. USPS of Leavenworth, is my apartment door a secure location or isn’t it? Can I change instructions to have deliveries come to my door since I work remote or can’t I? And last, did you send my package back to the plant and by some miracle retrieve it next business day? Or was I lied to to save face. There is clearly no real understanding of a standard policy here. Drivers do what they want are inconsistent with package placement. Packages can get misplaced and lied about in the office. Shippers have to change delivery instructions until they don’t. Holy cow Leavenworth USPS get it together guys, for the sake of everyone who receives mail or ships mail here. Won’t even bother asking you guys what your practices are because it changes person to person. Consider this your only direct feedback, because you’d misplace it if I left it at the office.

I would give this office negative 10 stars if it would let me. The postman assigned to my area is the laziest and most unprofessional looking person I have ever seen working as a government employee, he has a braided goatee and sloppy uniform and will not deliver the mail at all if he can claim the box is blocked. This sort of behavior is why the entire postal service is failing but this office will back his poor behavior.

If I am to hand deliver my neighbors’ mail that has been placed in my mailbox quite often, then maybe the postal service should pay me a part time position. Again to day I found my next door neighbor’s mail in my mailbox. On Wednesday of this week I received her ks state license plate in my mailbox. Two weeks ago I had mail for neighbors who live on a street around the corner from me.

Absolutely Atrocious and Downright Diabolical Dereliction of Duty by USPS Management in Leavenworth, Kansas 👹📦📬 The USPS office in Leavenworth, Kansas, is an absolute disgrace to public service. I’ve dealt with one failed delivery after another—from Amazon, eBay, and standard USPS mail. Consistently. Repeatedly. Packages are left in unsafe areas, mail goes missing, and not once has anyone taken responsibility for the chaos they cause. Today was the final straw. While conducting business in Topeka this morning and afternoon, I called the Leavenworth office to ask why my packages weren’t delivered properly today, as per the instructions given to both Amazon and previously to Danny Gomez, the disrespectful and arrogant postmaster in Leavenworth. When I called in to demand answers for this blatant refusal to follow orders, Danny’s underling—a female manager of some sort—picked up the phone and, rather than offering help or even basic courtesy, spoke to me with a tone of smug arrogance. When pressed, she admitted the mail carrier left my packages in the unsecured apartment lobby again, claiming the delivery driver was “doing me a favor.” When I understandably pushed back, she doubled down and said she’d “do whatever she wanted.” What kind of professional says that to a customer? Absolutely unacceptable! Even worse, my Amazon Prime delivery instructions explicitly state that packages must be brought to my unit due to my physical disability. Previously, USPS claimed they couldn’t deliver because the lobby was “secure” and required a code—yet today they left my packages in the same unsecured lobby, acting as if they were doing me a favor. The contradiction is insulting. There is zero accountability at this location—from the toxic management to the rude and careless carriers. Danny Gomez, the pitiful postmaster, has allowed a rotten culture of disrespect to fester under his watch. It’s a clown show raised to the tenth power. This past week, I’d finally had enough and purchased a secure mailbox at the UPS store in Lansing, Kansas—$303 for 12 months of peace of mind. While I was there, Cindy Wagner, a USPS corporate representative, called me to follow up on the problems I’ve had recently in Leavenworth. It was perfect timing. I spoke to her on speakerphone in the UPS store in front of staff and explained exactly why I was making the switch. I also changed my mailing address at the Lansing USPS branch to escape the dysfunction, dishonesty, and downright hostility in Leavenworth. But according to the same rude female manager, it will take “a few weeks.” Of course it will. 🤣 I’ve also spoken with several USPS corporate managers who have reprimanded Danny Gomez and lectured him about both his behavior and his staff’s. And yet, he continues to defy his supervisors. Apparently, his undeserved salary isn’t enough to motivate him to treat the public with basic dignity. The abuse of public trust here is staggering. The workers at the Leavenworth USPS should be investigated, retrained, or fired. Full stop 🛑 They are not public servants—they are an ongoing liability and a cruel joke to those who rely on the time-honored service that Mr. Gomez has corrupted, defiled, and eradicated. The Leavenworth USPS isn’t just broken—it’s a festering symbol of everything wrong with government apathy, incompetence, and institutional decay.
