- CCChickenbone CharlieAug 14, 20152.0I've lived in this area for over 25 years and still can never narrow down the hours, services or dates of operation for the Columbus Kansas Post Office. Things seem to change whenever there's a local election - this is "Good Ole' Boy country." For months I was under the impression (based on internet and local information) that the P O. remained open on weekdays from 8am until 4:30pm. That is what is posted on all the Columbus USPS websites. However when I arrived, the window shade was pulled down with a crude sign in magic marker saying that it closed at 4pm. Saturday the P.O. is open a whopping 1-1/2 to 2 hours in the morning (which is also a variable) from 8:30 until 10am - RIDICULOUS.
