- DSDerek SNov 7, 20252.0Ignore the 5-star "Local Guide" reviews as they are usually paid for. That's called... fake, lol. Been buying from Staples and recycling e-waste here for years. As "we're going to follow in California's footsteps" of our not truly democratically-elected permanent party in Illinois maintains, you'd think we'd have pretty solid recycling programs in this state. Instead, our local Staples store has deteriorated from being able to offload a shopping cart full of electronics (for free) to paying $20 out-of-pocket for every single computer monitor that's recycle to a new hard-limit of five electronics per customer per visit. Nice. My company needs 12-14 computers per year just to keep a 4-5 computer lifecycle, which Staples will happily allow customers to buy any number of electronics without limit... see the problem? I wouldn't care, except the Illinois' State recycling gov website points to Staples as a local electronics recycler... OOF! Don't waste your time my neighbor Illinoisans, just take your electronics to a metal recycling facility and at least you'll get paid whatever X and Y is worth in scrap metal. The precious metals like copper and gold... nah, us the consumers get screwed out of that... and told we're getting a fair trade for not having to pay for recycling... Oh, and ask Staples what to do with your old TV. You'll LOVE the answer. ;)
