- KBKati BDec 22, 20251.0The woman behind the customer service counter here the week of a major holiday is too busy on her iPhone talking through her AirPods to help customers. She can’t even be bothered to check for packages that customers have been informed are available for delivery at this exact address — instead sending on them wild goose chases to different locations. When asked if she wouldn’t mind just looking for the package, while she is surrounded by people’s packages on the counter already, she says, “No.” Then at the next location, it was explained to me that — were that not the final destination for the package to be collected — the only reason for it to show as available for pick up there was that someone working there incorrectly scanned it into the system in that way. Maybe she could hang up her phone and stop rapping her nails on the counter long enough to properly scan items and assist customers. 🤦♀️

I recently applied for a police department position and mailed important documents that were required by the agency through express and certified mail from my hometown post office in Peoria. The package was sent on October 9th and arrived at this post office the next day. However, my package didn’t arrive to the designated facility until October 15th, one day after the submission deadline of October 14th for all required documents. Because of this delay, my application is now deemed invalid. When I called to inquire about what happened, one of the employees informed me that the clerk had forgotten to give the mail carrier the express card for my package. To make matters worse, the destination for my package was directly across the street from this post office. This level of negligence is absolutely inexcusable. Attention to detail is critical in any profession, especially one that handles people’s time-sensitive and career-impacting documents. I will NEVER in my life use the United States Postal Service for anything again!!!!!!!!
