If the workers here are going to step out for a lunch break, then put a sign up and lock the door, don’t let people sit in a dead quiet lobby for 10 minutes wondering if the person in the back passed out or if there’s anybody in the building at all.

During normal business hours the doors are often closed while employees are inside and customers are waiting, and it’s often unclear whether they are on lunch break or just closed. There is also no sign on the door explaining if they are closed, on lunch, or when they will return. If staff take lunch breaks, they should rotate so the office stays open. The manager needs to organize the schedule properly — this is a public service and people shouldn’t have to waste trips because the office is unexpectedly closed.
