USPS is the pits! Can’t get any answers on the phone it takes you from prompt to prompt. It’s ridiculous. Yet cost of stamp rising. One star is too much IMO.

If this location is not going to fulfill its promise of being open until 11 PM, they need to change their hours until the honest time they will be available to provide service to customers. If I would have known they were not going to be available at the time they promise to be available publicly, I would’ve skipped the trip. I did nothing wrong. I was here before the closing time, by several minutes, and I was unjustifiably denied service.
Detailed explanation of incident: The cardiss Collin’s location in downtown Chicago is posted to be open until 11 pm on Saturdays, as was confirmed by the business online and is posted on the building. My bus ran late but still I arrived at the second floor customer service desk at 10:55 pm, and the gate was closed. One employee walking away with her purse (young, full bodied, dark complexion, red dreadlocks). I asked her why it was closed because it wasn’t 11 pm yet, and she just shook her head and kept walking away.
I then tried speaking to anyone through the gate, and they told me they close early on Saturdays. I told them it wasn’t 11 pm yet, and they still didn’t open the gate. USPS provides a much needed service partly funded by citizens tax dollars, and in this big city, Chicago, there’s really no reason for why the clerks can’t keep the gate open until the confirmed time. Some people have disabilities, buses run late, I walked a mile through snow, *still* was lucky enough to get there on time, and it closed early for no particular reason.
All the trouble I went through (I then had to walk another mile through snow back to the bus stop), my wasted bus fare money… all because this location couldn’t stay open until the posted hours— it would not have inconvenienced the clerks to have provided the service they are paid to provide. It’s not acceptable because it inconveniences customers far more than the paid clerks, when they essentially fall short (in the most easily avoidable way) on a job they are paid (and eventually given a generous pension) to do.
Granted this is a major city, with no shortage of citizens who need this service, it’s baffling and disrespectful to the citizens who pay for this service. I have photo evidence on my phone showing the time and their gate fully closed denying entry to customers. In all honesty, if the workers can’t offer the service posted on the doors, they’re unable to fulfill the job requirements and should be replaced.
I just filed a complaint with USPS about this disrespectful lapse of service to customers. This is the downtown of a massive major city, so there’s really no excuse. If the clerks cannot provide customer service that fulfills the job requirements, they should be replaced—there’s many people who would be more than glad to do their comfortable sitting down job, and receive their decent paychecks and pensions to *actually* provide the service they are paid to provide.

Let me begin this review by saying that one star is MORE than generous. I came to drop off 2 envelopes. I moved to the city in May and I have never been to a Post Office in the city before, and oh BOY I will never come here again unless something changes with the desk staff. I arrived just before 1pm on Wednesday, January 28th, and I was the only person in line when I got there. Greeting me at the desk was one worker arguing with a person there to drop off a package, and the other was on her phone watching TikTok. I was not CALLED to the desk, but I was BARKED at. I was then treated with probably the worst costumer service I have ever been treated with while a TikTok was replaying over and over on the attendants phone in the background. The ONE positive of this place was having the pleasure to meet Officer Caldwell by the front door. She was so kind to me and if I ever find myself at this location ever again, it will just be to speak with her again.
Also the escalator was broken.

I send out multiple packages every week. They are picked up in a timely manner from my building and then they just SIT and wait at the center for processing for literally 5-8 DAYS before being officially given an "ACCEPTANCE SCAN". Horrific. This effects my business so poorly and actually costs me money. DO YOUR JOB, USPS. This is a major problem at this location and needs to be resolved.
