Came at 11:45 and nobody was there, doors were locked to the service counter. The hours do NOT indicate that the location is closed in any way during lunch hours. I knocked on the glass door maybe 3 times as the lobby was still open (suggesting that someone was still there). Finally, in a last ditch effort to receive support, I knocked on a different door and was met with a very rudely toned “I am on lunch!!!” Firstly, if you are understaffed for the day, you could put up a sign. Secondly, you could have stated that kindly the first time I knocked because clearly you had heard me. Thirdly, this is downtown Des Moines, and it would stand to reason that people might be trying to make a run to the post office during their lunch break, not the best time to close up shop - especially unscheduled. Just overall so rude!

I agree that the postal service is disagreeable in their manners. At 1st the sign in front displayed Closed., I knew they were open but don’t seem to care. I walked in turned the sign and waited for a mean mannered looking lady. I luv stamps (my collection) is amazing. She had absolutely no interest and was rude to others as well. Like , well what do you want in a mean matter.
I’m fragile I was being sweet there’s no heart there. 🎑

I have been to this location twice in the last 2 months and both times dealt with the lady there named Audrey. She was extremely rude, belittled me, & had an attitude both times I visited for 2 separate things. She is downright a nasty nasty human being & I would never ever recommend this place nor services from this horrible human being they have working for them.
