Although my interactions with the Ankeny Post Office have been little I did want to shout out the employee Liz. Her work ethic and communication is top tier. She's been very helpful in a handful of situations.

I don’t have a problem with mail service. However if I go to mail a letter at the drive by mail box at the post office, the stop sign at the drive to turn left or right is faded to almost all white. And the shrub at the end of the same driveway is too big to see around safely. It needs to be trimmed back or removed for safety. Thank you very much for your attention

Informed delivery digest gives a time range for packages to be delivered. When I am waiting for a package I need to sign for, I stay near my front door because if I don't hear the mail truck drive down the road and flag him down, often times, the postal carrier does not even bother to try to deliver the package so I have to hunt it down the next day to sign for it. Sometimes the delivery times change from by 11:30pm to by 2pm then after 2pm it is a miracle if the package shows up at all. Sometimes the carrier leaves a form for me to sign on my front door but never comes back to see if I signed it and deliver my package. So frustrating!

A couple of years ago, our mailbox was hit multiple times during the winter season, and after the 3rd hit, it was ripped out entirely. To save ourselves a headache, we thought it would be easier to go with a wall mounted box. We did so, and when I called to let the Post Office know about it, they told us it could only be a curbside mailbox. I asked them why and explained my situation, but they never bothered to give me any reasons. They just kept insisting that it HAD to be a curbside box. I even told them that we LITERALLY had houses not even a block from us that had wall mounted boxes, and I couldn't understand why they could have it, but we couldn't. The postmaster just kept telling us "curbside only." The service I got was rude and nobody could explain to me why. Not only that, but I have made every attempt while we have lived at that house since early 2019 to stop any/all mail sent to the previous owners of the home from being delivered. I asked the post office directly, I called their 800 number, and I even left a note inside the mailbox that only mail with OUR names on it can be delivered, and the rest should be sent back. At one point, I even wrote on a letter "Return to sender" and stuck it back into the mailbox for them to take. It was taken the next day, and a day or two after that, it was right back in our box yet again, complete with my "return to sender" note on it. The only thing that has helped is that I have had to contact whoever sent the letter to tell them that the person in question no longer lives at that address. I honestly shouldn't have to, but this is where I'm at.
