Because my maiden name was on the birth certificate (which is standard), the woman working there told us I needed a copy of my marriage certificate to submit the application. Nowhere on any of the paperwork or passport application website does it say this is required. We also called the Honolulu passport agency, and they said they had never heard of this requirement. This is our third child and we’ve never submitted a marriage certificate with any application. We drove 45 minutes for this appointment and had to bring all three children, wake them up from naps, bring them inside, and then had to reschedule. We went to a different post office today, and surprise surprise, no marriage certificate was required. Clearly the Waianae employee just didn’t feel like working that day. Do better.

I go to Waianae USPS often at least 3-4 times a week and even when they first open, Martin has the greatest attitude and is always so sweet. He makes the experience so worth driving to Waianae post office. I seriously hope they give him a raise and wish him all the best for being the kindest and sweetest worker.

Lobby with p.o. boxes is open 24 hours. It would be nice if they had some kind of self-serve machines for after-hours postage, but their hours are convenient enough - 9 to 4 Mon-Fri and 9 to noon on Saturday. Since we have a p.o. box there, we can receive packages in the lockers and that is really convenient instead of standing in line every time we get something mailed to us.They used to have several homeless people sitting or sleeping outside regularly, but that seems to have ended lately.
