- SBSean BrownDec 6, 20252.0I use and pay for usps services a lot as I received and send out many mails and packages. I meant in the hundreds of packages annually. I am self employed and for my business I think expenses for shipping out merchandise such as mtg cards I sell to customer alone is in the thousands of dollars each year, not to mention when ordering stuff I also pay the shipping fee for those as well and those are also in the thousands, so I have quite a lot of experience using usps services. For mails I received with eBay tracking for items I bought on eBay sent with eBay tracking, their tracking is just not reliable, many times the mails are delivered to my mailbox but its tracking show still in transit, other times no tracking activity at all, then at times tracking shows it was delivered and the letter does not show up until a week later. When I asked usps, they said eBay tracking is not part of their system so they don’t take responsibility for their tracking being inaccurate. They also said if envelop mails are damaged, or missing, since there is no tracking not much they can do about it. Many of the envelop mails I received are damaged, like bent, dirtied, mangled…, about 10-20% of the mail with item inside which is a pretty high percentage, though it is hard to attribute where the faults are, if it was damaged when it got to Hawai’i, at this post office or at the mainland where it was shipped out. Many times, the issues with inaccurate tracking make the problem worse as it caused more confusion, and when I go to this location to discuss the issues since this is my local office, it was already in a situation where I am an unhappy customer since mails I expected are either late, damaged, missing or have other problems ... With that said, when coming here to discuss issues with the mail, there is usually quiet a wait, and many times it feels like more times are wasted as there does not seem to be a way to resolve some of these issues when asking the managers here to look into things because many times they said it is outside of their control, or it just seems to show little result, though this may or may not be the local station’s fault. there is even time when mail I ordered made its way to this station but somehow it was not delivered to me but sent back to the mainland instead, and I lost out on the merchandise, when asked this local office, they gave many reason, but something just seem to not make sense with that case. At times, due to the frequency of mail I received or sent out that experience issues during transit, I am not sure if it was done deliberately or if it really is accidental which is a sad thing to say, but i think better care should be taken when customer entrust usps with their merchandise anyway, especially since we are the one paying usps for their services so they should not cause damage to the hands that feed them. I have spent a lot more on insurance for mails I sent out this year now which is also another sad thing to say since accidental damage or lost mail should be a very rare occasion, not something to happen so frequently that I feel insurance is a necessity for mailing items instead of having complete trust that usps would take care of mails I received and sent out without worry, but that sentiment would probably be too naive nowadays. And even with insurance, usps has denied claim when my mail shipped with them was damaged during transit in their care which is also really unfortunate as usps should not damage item they are paid to transit and they should take responsibility when it happened instead of making it difficult for its customer.
