Woman serving was expressing how glad she was that the PO lockers were broke as it meant more business for them. If you had a friendly disposition rather than the hostile one you currently emit customers would rather use your services. From my experience the cold metal boxes seemed much more appealing. I actually felt more of a nuisance than a customer.
