If a parcel (non-document item) is being sent internationally (including to Europe), a Customs invoice is required. If a parcel is being sent nationally (within the UK and to the Channel Islands), a Customs invoice is not required.

What happens if no one is available to receive my parcel?
If there is no one available to accept the parcel, our DHL Express courier will usually leave a calling card at the address informing the receiver that they have tried to deliver a parcel. The receiver can then either collect the parcel from their local DHL Express Service Point or arrange another delivery. If they arrange another delivery, this can be to an alternative address. Just search on Google for "DHL Express On Demand Delivery" and enter the parcel tracking number.
