When I approached the member of staff to make the deposit, I was spoken to in a rude, dismissive and disrespectful manner. I was told that I should deposit the coins using a coin deposit machine/Automat instead. The way this information was communicated to me made me feel as though I was an inconvenience rather than a customer seeking assistance. What particularly concerned me was what happened immediately afterwards. As I was leaving the branch, another male customer entered and appeared to be carrying out a similar transaction involving putting money into an account. I observed that the same member of staff interacted with him in a noticeably more pleasant, respectful and accommodating manner. The contrast between the way he was treated and the way I had just been treated was extremely upsetting and left me questioning whether I had been treated differently or unfairly. I appreciate that there may be specific procedures regarding coin deposits, but there is no excuse for speaking to a customer rudely or dismissively. If I cannot make a particular type of deposit at the counter, I expect this to be explained to me politely and professionally. I would therefore like this incident to be investigated, including the conduct of the staff member involved and whether customers are being treated consistently and fairly. I would also appreciate an explanation of the correct procedure for depositing coins so that I know how I should proceed in future. I look forward to receiving a response addressing my concerns.
