I have recently been bereaved and I needed to collect a parcel sent to my dead relative. I took all the relevant paperwork with me, had notification on my Royal Mail that the item was at my chosen destination with even a proof of delivery. On arrival I was told the item wasn’t there. When I explained the situation over my relative there was no empathy or compassion shown and told me to look at another post office. I went to Purley post office where, whilst the parcel was not there, they showed compassion and wonderful service, telling me that the item was at old lodge lane post office. When I returned there, no apology, still adamant that it was not there until lo and behold it was found!! Very poor experience. .
