Just had a really poor customer service experience trying to change the tax category on my car. I originally wanted to sorn it but this wasn't possible, so I asked if I could set up monthly direct debit and was told no, not when changing the tax class, so I said ok, I'll have 6 months tax, but was then told I couldn't use ApplePay to charge by debit card for it because it might break their system. I was told to speak to DVLA which I did and they confirmed there was no problem paying it by direct debit. I went to Ordsall Postoffice and they did it straight away just by filling in a direct debit mandate. Wasted 2 hours of my day sorting this, which should have been (and turned out to be) a simple transaction
