The small Post Office in Alloway serves as a charming focal point in the village, combining everyday function with traditional character. Its bright red pillar box at the entrance adds a classic touch, reflecting the familiar style of historic British mailboxes. Together, they create a welcoming, picture‑perfect spot that fits naturally within the heritage setting of Robert Burns’s birthplace village.

Unpleasant experience at the post office today whilst trying to deposit money.
The clerk was a blonde haired woman with glasses and a terrible attitude, I had called by telephone to ask if they accepted deposits for First direct accounts and was told they do so I walk round the corner to deposit £2000.00GBP. When I approached counter I said I wish to deposit £2k into my account she asked what notes I had in which I replied £50 notes & £20 notes she said she could only take some of my £50 notes before changing her mind to saying she can’t take any, she also then said I can only take £900 worth of £20 notes. I have looked on the Post Office website in which it clearly states they accept new £50 notes at all post offices as deposits when debiting your account with £3000 to £10000 daily limits mentioned in which my deposit was below that amount. What is the point of having a local post office to serve the community if the people who are working there are sending you to the bank in the town to make deposits because they do not know how to do there job properly or have a lack of training and knowledge of the post office legislation.

Watch what you wear when using this post office - apparently a woman wearing a face covering (during a pandemic) and a hoodie is enough to make the staff feel ‘threatened.’ Imagine policing how women dress in 2022. I have often found the staff standoffish and snobby in the past, I definitely won’t be using this post office in the future now.
