I received confirmation that the parcel was in his possession and ready for collection, but when I asked for it, he said it wasn't there and that I should come back tomorrow, claiming the courier had sent the message in error. After I insisted, he took it out from inside without apology.

I have tried to give it the benefit of the doubt on each visit but having experienced poor customer service every time, I will be travelling further to avoid this one. The elderly man operating the post office is far too slow, and consequently there is always a long queue. Recently, I specifically posted a small parcel to Spain, which took the guy a long time to process, and it has now run into issues with the Spanish post office, causing delays and problems for the recipient (and extra cost for me that I was not warned about). It is clear that this guy is out of his depth, as he didn’t provide clear information to me, he incorrectly labelled my parcel as ‘chocolate’ when I told him it was ‘sweets and a card’. I wish I didn’t have to say this but I can’t neglect to mention that personal hygiene seems to be missing for him - his hands are very noticeably dirty when he’s handling parcels and money between customers. Additionally, the rest of the shop is bare and uninviting with several empty shelves - I am always glad to get out. All in all, for such a crucial service as a local post office, this one is a total let down and is in dire need of an overhaul.
