!! Avoid at all costs - Not a Post Office !!
I echo the previous negative reviews on this ‘Post Office’ - I visited on the 26th September 2023, despite reading the reviews, expecting that given the passage of time since the last reviews, there would be improvement.
On arrival, the Royal Mail van had just arrived, ready to take parcels, just like mine, which I needed to send next day delivery.
However, despite the post office being advertised as open online and in store, the older lady storekeeper as per the previous reviews was there to prevent that.
She screamed across the store ‘Post Office Closed’ as soon as I dared to near the counter. I asked why, turning around at the empty store, with the Royal Mail man awaiting behind me to receive my parcel.
She stated “Cold items need putting away, going to be closed for at least an hour and half” as she pointed to an empty section of floor.
I’m assuming this is just an automatic response and she has no other excuse, as there was no stock which needed to be urgently put away.
She then refused to serve me, which amounted to printing off a pre paid barcode, and then proceeded to let the Royal Mail staff in to retrieve the possibly 1 letter she had allowed entry too over the course of a month.
As with many places of this type, e.g Hermes ‘Shops’ they are simply a front to get you into the store to buy their overpriced household items, as opposed to any intention of you using the Post Office aspect.
Far is now common that these places seek out a contract with Royal Mail/Hermes just to get people into the door and rage when you attempt to use those services and not purchase anything.
I’m reporting the store to McCols and Post Office, as it is quite clear they have zero intention given the reviews over a number of years of providing any form of postal service.
This is a clear example as to why everything is moving online and stores like this, and the employment which goes with it will be gone.
The staff member clearly needs retraining or retiring, if there is no ability to print off a pre paid label when the store is empty, I hate to think how it manages with 1 additional customer.
There are countless post offices around the area, don’t give this your custom in any capacity.
